The Black American West Museum and Heritage Center is a fascinating museum documenting the history of black cowboys. Debunking the myth that there were few, if any, black cowboys, the museum also promotes the contributions black professionals have made to the history of the US in fields such as law, medicine, journalism and education. Displays and exhibits are housed in the Victorian home of Dr. Justina Ford (1871 - 1951), the first black woman licensed to practice medicine in Denver.
